PROTEACEAE – Banksia aemula – Wallum Banksia
Seen at North Head Sanctuary, Manly and flowering from December to March. The documented distinction between this plant & B. serrata is the stigma shape ==> B. aemula is ovoid whereas B. serrata is cylindrical. I think that this plant looks quite distinct from Banksia serrata – new growth has an orange colour to it & the leaves are much narrower and it generally has a more squat appearance in this area.
