Found on Bangalley Head, the Caleyi Track, Chiltern Track North, Chiltern Road West, Cromer Heights, Manly Dam, Terrey Hills and the West Head tracks. Seen flowering from November to January. This plant grows from a lignotuber – it often has a scrubby appearance and the new growth is distinctly orange-brown. On the Perimeter Track in Terrey Hills H. dactyloides and H. laevipes can be seen growing alongside each other.
